Instead, encourage your child to trust his/her ‘gut instinct’ and always make sure that your communication lines are open. You want your children to feel ‘safe’ in sharing their fears with you at all times.

When and if your child does disclose something to you, make sure you really listen, not only to what they’re saying but how they say it, and watch for body language. Make sure your child understands that their body is not to be touched in a way that makes them feel uncomfortable, and that they can always come to you if they are unsure of anything, even if family members are involved.

Answering the front door

For those children who spend some time at home alone, answering the front door can be extremely important. When alone, a child should never answer the door. Even if it’s a friend or relative of the family – if that person has arrived unexpectedly, it’s better for the child to not let them in. Statistics show that abductors of children are usually someone the child already knows. Children also need to be taught that even though the parent is home, it’s still important for the child to get the parent before answering the door.

Answering the Telephone

When children are alone at home and they answer the phone, they are never to state that they are home alone. Teach your child to say that the parent is unavailable, to take a message, and then hang up. If the child receives any prank or obscene phone calls, he or she should tell the parent. Children should also be taught to never give out any personal information, no matter who is calling. That should be left to the parent to decide on.

Around the home

When cooking, make sure you always turn your pot handles in so that they are not hanging over the side of the stove. Children can be badly burned if they grab hold of the handle and pull it down, or if they knock it off by accident. Never leave a cup of hot coffee or tea on a counter where a child can reach. Never leave knives or other sharp objects where a child can reach them. Never leave cupboard doors or drawers open as fingers can get caught or shut in them.

Take a few minutes to walk through your home and look around for possible dangers that your children may be exposed to. It’s good to do this at least once a month.

Teach your children how to dial 911

Children are more capable than we sometimes give them credit for. This is especially true when we take the time to teach our children what to do in different circumstances. It’s important for you to teach your children what to do when and if an emergency should arise. First things first, teach them how to call 911. Take a few minutes to explain the importance of calling 911. Go over what a 911 operator will ask, such as, what, where, why, when, and how. You can even pretend to make a few calls to help them feel more comfortable with this.

If your child gets lost

It’s always good to know where your child is but sometimes that can be out of our control. We need to prepare our children for whatever may come up. Make sure that your child always has money for a phone call. I know that many children today now have cellular phones in cases of emergency. Make sure that they know that they can call 911 if they get lost and have no other means of getting safe help. Encourage them to always go with a ‘buddy’ – there is safety in numbers. Explain to your children the importance of always telling you where they are going and for how long they will be gone.

If your child gets separated from you in a mall or store, teach your child to go to the help or information desk, or approach a security officer to get help in finding you again. Make sure that your child knows his full name, phone number and address.

The Code

Many families are now developing a code word that is known only by them and close friends. This code is used in instances where a child is approached by a family member, or someone else, telling the child to come with them to see their parent or other family member. If that person does not know the code, the child is not to go with them no matter what.

Strangers

Strangers can be confusing for children, especially when a stranger talks to a parent of a child. When it comes to strangers, we can never be too careful. There are certain rules to follow that will help keep our children safe. Basically, the only time a child should talk to a stranger is when he or she is in trouble and needs help. Children should only seek out a stranger’s help when they are lost or hurt, or are trying to get away from someone who is hurting them. We need to make sure our children understand the importance of this. Lastly, make sure your child realizes that strangers look like everyone else – they don’t look like a wild monster or strange creature – meaning your child will not be able to judge a nice stranger from a stranger bent on harming them.

Never label your child’s clothing, knapsack/bag, or anything else as a stranger could use the information to help gain the child’s trust.

Being a prepared parent

As a parent, there are ways that you can be even more prepared should disaster strike. Read up on what to do in emergency circumstances, such as choking, burns, falls, poisons, etc. This information is easily attainable and can only make you better prepared should anything happen. Oleh karena itu, orang-orang beragama Hindu menganggap kerbau sebagai hewan keramat dan tidak diperbolehkan untuk dimakan.

Tidak hanya Candi Srikandi, ada juga kelompok Candi Pendawa, Candi Gatotkaca, Candi Bima dan Candi Dwarawati atau Parikesit. Dahulu, candi-candi yang ada di sini berjumlah sekitar 40 candi, namun seiring dengan berjalannya waktu, candi-candi ini menjadi hancur sehingga sampai saat ini hanya tersisa 8 candi yang masih bisa dibilang bagus.

Candi-candi yang ada di Dieng mempunyai bentuk yang kurang lebih hampir sama. Tetapi, beberapa candi yang memiliki tangga dan ada yang tidak. Candi yang memiliki tangga tersebut menggambarkan lidah yang menjulur. Menurut filosofi Orang Hindu, bilamana ingin mendapatkan surga, maka harus menjaga lidah dengan baik.

Tidak hanya candi saja yang dapat dijadikan sebagai tempat wisata, sebuah tempat yang selalu menjadi idaman para wisatawan adalah Kawah Sikidang. Kawah tersebut dikenal dengan sebutan Kawah Sikidang lantaran kawah ini suka berpindah-pindah tempat bagaikan kijang. Kawah ini di kelilingi lereng dan mengandung larva. Air yang ada di kawah sangatlah panas. Suhunya sekitar 60o C-120o C. Kawah ini awalnya kecil, tapi lama-kelamaan kawah ini menjadi semakin luas diiringi waktu yang berjalan cepat.

Sekitar Kawah Sikidang, terdapat anak-anak penduduk setempat dengan rambut yang ditumbuhi rambut gembel. Menurut cerita, rambut gembel ada yang dianggap sebagai pembawa berkah dan bisa juga menjadi pembawa kesialan. Rambut-rambut gembel tersebut bisa dipotong agar kesialan yang ada di anak-anak tersebut hilang. Tetapi ada syarat yang harus di lakukan sebelum memotong rambut gembel tersebu. Syaratnya ialah permintaaan apapun yang diinginkan anak-anak tersebut harus dikabulkan. Hal itu harus juga disertai dengan semacam upacara pada saat pemotongan rambut. Upacara yang biasa dilakukan tersebut dinamakan upacara meruwat rambut gembel. Dalam melaksanakan pemotongan rambut-rambut anak gembel tersebut, disediakan tiga macam tumpeng sebagai unsur sesajian.

Sebelum menjadi dataran, area di Dieng merupakan danau besar. Tetapi, yang tertinggal sekarang hanya berupa telaga. Salah satu yang paling diminati adalah Telaga Warna Dieng. Konon, telaga ini digunakan oleh dewi-dewi atau peri-peri dari khayangan untuk membersihkan tubuh mereka. Telaga warna ini juga dipercaya memiliki sebuah legenda tentang selendang Dewi Nalang Wulan yang hilang karena dicuri Jaka Tarub.

Karena di pegunungan ditanami kentang, ketika hujan deras, ada lumpur yang masuk ke telaga sehingga warna telaga yang pada awalnya cemerlang menjadi warna hijau dan biru. Dulunya, dasar telaga pernah dieksploitasi karena memiliki kristal di dasarnya, tetapi kini sudah habis karena dieksploitasi. Di dasar telaga masih terdapat kawah yang muncul dengan bentuk gelembung-gelembung.

Telaga Warna mengandung aneka bahan mineral yang apabila terkena sinar matahari akan memantulkan cahaya warna-warni seperti merah, putih, atau lembayung. Karena cahaya itulah, telaga ini dinamakan Telaga Warna.

Meskipun telaga ini tidak bisa ditinggali oleh ikan-ikan, tetapi sering banyak dikunjungi oleh burung belibis.
Tidak hanya Telaga Warna, bila ditelusuri lebih dalam, dapat juga dijumpai Telaga Pengilon. Pada dahulunya, air di Telaga Pengilon sangat jernih sehingga dapat digunakan untuk bercermin. Sekarang, telaga tersebut sudah keruh dan berwarna coklat.

Warisan zaman dahulu kala ini perlahan hancur akibat tangan manusia yang jahil. Karena perbuatan manusia yang tidak bertanggungjawablah, menyebabkan keindahan alam yang ada di Dieng maupun di seluruh Indonesia menjadi rusak. Maka dari itu, marilah kita semua bersama-sama menjaga dan merawat harta peninggalan sejarah yang berharga ini. Car Warning Lights

Cuando Me Enamoro - Today’s vehicles are equipped with an array of warning lights. Of course we’re all familiar will the seat belt warning and the door ajar indicator; however, with the automotive industry’s technological advancements there are a number of warning lights that can be quite alarming.

Following is a Question and Answer Guide on some of the more common Warning Light concerns. Note: due to the frequency of the Check Engine Warning Light, it has a section all its own. Visit www.repairtrust.com/check.html.

1) SRS Light (Supplemental Restraint System): the supplemental restraint system is your Airbag System. It may incorporate a variety of active, passive, and even pre-safe technology depending on the vehicle. Given that the SRS System is a safety system, it is well monitored with numerous sensors and automatic self-tests. The slightest malfunction in this system illuminates the SRS light.

"Can the vehicle be driven with an SRS Light on?" Yes, at the owner’s risk. There are thousands of vehicles on the road without SRS technology.

"Is the airbag going to blow up?" It’s unlikely. When the SRS Light is on the system is inoperative.

2) ABS Lights: The Anti-Lock Brake System Warning Light is another common occurrence in today’s vehicles. The ABS system helps to keep you from skidding out of control during braking by limiting your wheels from locking up/skidding.

The ABS system is often integrated with traction control and stability systems, all of which are designed to keep you safe during panic stops, wheel slippage, and handling.

"Do I need brakes?" You might, but that’s not why the ABS Light is on. The ABS Warning System does not monitor disc brake pad or disc brake rotor wear (see the Padlight Warning section below)

"Can the vehicle be driven?" Like the SRS system, the vehicle can be driven at the owner’s risk as there are many vehicles still on the market without the enhanced safety features of ABS.

"Why is my ABS light on? How do I reset the ABS Light?" These are simple questions with a multitude of answers depending on the vehicle in question. For a QUICK and FREE solution, follow the information and guidelines for Resetting Check Engine Light, and apply them to your ABS light.

3) Low Coolant Light: The Low Coolant Light will come on when the coolant drops below the coolant level sensor—generally one to two quarts. If this light is on, there are two primary possibilities. The most common is a coolant leak. The other is an electrical fault in the warning lamp circuit. Have them checked out.

"Can it be driven?" If there are no major leaks, the vehicle is not overheating (and does not start to overheat), and there is still some evidence of coolant in the overflow bottle, it can be driven. If you can see coolant leaking on the ground—tow it. When in doubt, always tow it!

4) Red Oil Light On: Stop driving immediately and shut the engine off! If a Red Oil Warning Light comes on PAY ATTENTION.

The best case scenario is that your engine oil is a little low. The second best case scenario is that there is an electrical issue with the Oil Level Warning System circuit.

First, follow your owners’ manual’s instructions to check your oil. If low, add as recommended—make sure you don’t see it dripping or pouring out on the ground, which would indicate a “major” engine leak.

If the oil is not low and your engine is making ticking, knocking, or unusual noises, Tow it!

If everything appears ok, and you’re a bit of a gambler, it may just be an issue with the warning lamp circuit. In this case, get your vehicle checked out at your earliest convenience.

The worst case scenario is internal engine damage.

Note: many of today’s vehicles have very sensitive and sophisticated Oil Level Warning Systems. You may be alerted of oil level too high, or oil level too low. Again, refer to your owners’ manual’s instructions.

So whether it’s a 1993 Ford Aerostar Check Oil Light, or a question of “Why does oil light flash in Saab automobile,” PAY ATTENTION!

5) Red Brake Warning Lights: Generally, Red Warning Lights mean DANGER. In the case of a Red Brake Warning Light, there may be a hydraulic brake fluid leak. If the brake pedal feels abnormal or spongy—don’t drive—Tow It!

"Can I drive it?" If the car is stopping ok, and you’re a gambler, go ahead. If the brake pedal feels different than usual, or if the vehicle is not stopping properly, don’t drive it!

Note: make sure that your emergency brake is not on or partially engaged, as this will illuminate a Red Brake Warning Light.

6) Yellow Brake Warning Light (Padlight): This is an early warning system for brake pad wear. Essentially, as your disc brake pads wear down, at a certain point a sensor is tripped to alert you that you will need brakes soon.

"Can I drive the vehicle, and for how long?" Yes, you can continue to drive. How long depends on your driving style. City drivers (city driving is generally harder on brakes due to the constant stop and go) will likely need their brakes addressed before someone who does primarily highway driving.

"Will I do more damage to the brakes?" Depending on how long you continue to drive you could conceivably wear your disc brake pads down to the metal backing plate, which could then damage your disc brake rotors and, in rare cases, the disc brake calipers. However, with many of today’s brake systems, the replacement of the disc brake rotors along with the disc brake pads is required or strongly recommended.

Important: It is better to have your brakes checked early to increase the possibility of saving money by not having to replace the rotors. However, many of today’s brake disc pads and rotors require replacement not due to wear, but due to rust and corrosion; thus rotor replacement is often necessary anyway. Brake calipers rarely need replacing during regular brake work.

7) Air Suspension Lights (Airmatic, Air Ride, Hydraulic Suspensions): Suspension Warning Lights illuminate when the suspension’s monitoring system has detected a fault. Often there is a leak—either air or hydraulic fluid.

"Can I drive it?" Sometimes. But if the suspension is lower than usual, and/or the vehicle just doesn’t feel right—Tow It! Extensive damage could result if the suspension drops too low while driving.

Note: air suspension system repairs are best left to the best, state-of-the-art service center you can find, preferably a dealership.

8) Tire Pressure Warning Light: This recent technological development causes quite a bit of confusion. Put simply, if your tire is getting low on air, your car lets you know via sensors mounted in various places depending on the model.

"What is the low tire pressure warning light reset procedure?" Sometimes the reset procedure is as simple as pressing a button. Other times one has to set the tire pressures, recalibrate the on-board computer, genuflect and cross two fingers. Check your owners’ manual or call a specialist or dealer.

Note: Local shops and franchises (for the most part) lack familiarity with Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems given that this is a fairly recent technological development. You can refer to How to Reset Check Engine Light, and follow the tips, and suggestions for getting it reset.

9) Emission Warning Light: This light is similar to the Check Engine Light. Many European models such as Volvos have this type of Warning System. It’s essentially letting you know that an emissions component has failed or detected a fault. Follow the Check Engine Light information and tips to address this particular warning light.

Note: make sure you take it to a shop equipped to handle emissions work.

10) Resetting Oil Lights (Oil Change Warning Lamps): Whether it’s a Toyota Oil Light Procedure, an Oil Change Warning Light Reset 2005 GMC Envoy, or the process to Reset 1999 M3 Oil Service Light, all require a specific course of action.

Most owners’ manuals have this information. You should find it under maintenance or oil service. You can also call your local mechanic, who resets oil service lights everyday on a variety of models. A dealership will certainly have the information; however, finding someone in a dealership who can translate it effectively may be difficult.

Note: several European models require special tools to reset the oil service light, thus it’s best to call or visit a specialist or dealer.

Collecting Chinese snuff bottles

Amor Real Telenovela - Valuable and useful guidance for potential collectors of snuff bottles and all about the amazing use of flaws found in stones to create beautiful pictures on the surface of snuff bottles. Over a good many years we have created, though I say it myself, quite an important Snuff Bottle Collection. My wife, thank goodness, shares my interest in these little bottles, but perhaps I should warn you, collecting anything is a bit like a bug, once caught, it is with you for ever and can be quite an obsession!

Have you ever searched for pebbles or shells along the sea shore, selecting them for either color or shape and found an appeal in handling them, so much so, that you simply could not throw them away? If so, you have the makings of a dedicated collector.

Part of the pleasure of owning these bottles is the tactile appeal found in handling them.

Boundless possibilities

There is also such a vast and diverse number of collecting possibilities. A collection could be based on any of the great Chinese fine arts and in each field it would be possible to have really important fine examples in this form of miniature works of art.

There are collections based on Jade and Hard stone carvings, others prefer Glass and Overlay Glass, or Chinese porcelain, or Enamels and Cloisonne, or you might like to base a collection on Paintings.

I can imagine how you find it hard to perceive a collection of bottles based on Chinese paintings but they exist. Remarkable signed landscape scenes and even portraits with superb calligraphy (often poems) have actually been painted on the inside of glass and stone bottles.

Some collections feature uncared bottles of rare stones, or Lacquer, or Amber and Ivory. Most collections consist of the collector's favorite subject but include a variety of other treasured bottles. There are collections that use as a theme; animals, or a color such as Imperial Yellow, or Blue and White, and as there are so many possibilities, no two collections ever look the same.

International connections

For anyone considering buying Snuff Bottles I should explain that it is an international pursuit. There is even an `International Chinese Snuff Bottle Society' with a large and active membership. Having been members over a long period we have found that fellow members are such interesting and friendly people.

There is a bond between a collector that leads to friendship, until we meet in the auction rooms that is! It is well worth joining, as there is a very informative, quarterly magazine, full of good color photographs. Information is surprisingly, freely shared amongst members and by the specialist dealers. So much can be learned this way, in fact far more than just by studying the many very fine, beautiful books on the subject.

Dangerous temptations

Most people's first encounter with these bottles is likely to be at antique shops, auctions or antique fairs, otherwise in a museum or perhaps by meeting a collector. Once seen, certain people are tempted when next coming across a bottle to buy, but all too often these first purchases are of very poor quality. Later on, having acquired more knowledge, these first bottles so often prove to be disappointing. They often can turn out to be very costly mistakes. Unfortunately, there are far too many very poor bottles about, some are even brand new, made to cash in from the collecting craze. Even an article like this one can cause someone to go and buy without sufficient knowledge, I do hope not.

My advice is that apart from joining the society, attend some Snuff Bottles auctions and visit some of the specialist dealers.

When you go to the auction rooms be sure to go on the viewing days, usually one or two days before the sale. The first impression will probably be one of disappointment as there will be lots of poor quality bottles and to see so many all lying down, behind glass, is not the best way of presenting them.

Be sure to select a few that appeal to you and ask to inspect them. You will then be given a chance to handle some, and that is when the magic can begin. I do not know how to explain what happens, but there is something of a tactile pleasure that is only obtained from handling a good piece.

Our collection

I should point out that my first bottle did not immediately grab my attention. Surrounded by many beautiful and more colorful bottles of all shapes and sizes in a dealers display cabinet, this brown and beige colored bottle looked rather drab. Eventually, I came round to inspect it and before too long I knew that I had to buy it.

Only another collector can fully appreciate that overpowering urge that comes over one as it is the closest feeling to that of love at first sight. I have been told that ones pupils tend to enlarge, and this is one of the signs that dealers watch out for, and as collectors, of course, we always try desperately to camouflage our interest. This bottle was purchased, which is still a favorite, and it has formed the basis of our collection.

Our collection included many types of bottles but features mostly hard stones, known as Picture Agates, each one of these being a unique piece, as there can never be two alike. To fully appreciate these bottles I need to tell you more about how a stone bottle was made. All good early Snuff Bottles were made to be used and they needed to be small yet capable of holding plenty of snuff, not too heavy as they were carried on their person, often in the sleeve. All these bottles were designed to feel comfortable in the hand and were sealed with a cork, to keep the snuff at its best.

In Europe hinged boxes were used but perhaps the humidity in China caused them to prefer bottles with corks. All Snuff Bottles have a stopper on to which a cork is fixed, and at the other end of the cork is an ivory spoon. These stoppers rarely matched the bottles other than in size and shape. It was a matter of personal choice as to what type and color was considered best to go with the bottle.

Well hollowed bottles

Stone bottles were carved in a large variety of shapes but always with a fairly small opening in the neck normally about 5mm in diameter. Just imagine a lump of Quartz rock that is quite impossible to scratch even with your stainless steel penknife, yet in the 18th century this was carved into a bulbous shaped bottle.

Next it was drilled through the neck and hollowed out through this small hole, so that even difficult areas such as the shoulders of the bottle are really thin. Fine bottles are so well hollowed that they look more like blown glass, and are aptly described as `Eggshell Thin'. Should you place them in a bowl of water they will trap enough air to float.

Although I have mentioned that drilling was used, the information available about the manufacturing methods is incredible, as the drill and cutting discs were foot operated `Heath Robinson' affairs. However I do believe after many years' experience, they acquired more control and feel than is possible with modern electronic equipment (Essential in working on Jade as certain parts of the stone can easily fracture whilst other areas are very hard).

Most of the carving was achieved by grinding with Jade, Gem stone, sand and other abrasive particles. First by drilling and then hollowing out by carefully grinding away with special file-like tools. These tools were made by hammering metal shapes over the abrasive particles that once embedded, were easily bent to reach the most awkward parts.

The Chinese appreciated these wonderful stone bottles and they were fashioned from many types of stone, the purity of the material, particularly the Jade ones being highly prized. The Chalcedony Quartz bottles once `Eggshell Thin' show up remarkable markings formed from the formation of the crystals.

From flaws to pictures

Everyone I am sure can appreciate such bottles, as the lovely shapes and purity of the stone just cannot fail to impress. What I find even more fascinating is the amazing way they deliberately, brilliantly take advantage of flaws and inclusions often present in the stones.

Most Quartz and Jade stones have an outer layer of a different colour, particularly the pebbles from the riverbeds. They also have faults and flaws plus other coloured material, often deep in the stone. Sometimes these can be very thin skin-like inclusions, in others large blobs are found.

The problem is no one knows just what is in the rock until, as the cuts are made, the secrets of the stone are revealed. It is with this type of material that `Picture Agates' are made. The best of these incredible bottles look as if the inclusion, that forms the image, has appeared in just the right place as if to order!

There are different types of work within this group of bottles and the first ones are what we call `Cameo' carvings. These take advantage of an outer skin or a blob type of inclusion; they can be quite thick and are carved in relief. Another type is called `Shadow Agates' and these take advantage of markings in the bottle where, with the help of a little carving, an image is created. Lastly, the most fascinating ones are called `Silhouette Agates' but in this group no apparent carving is required. The image is achieved mainly by the angle and choice of shape, as well as the size and position of the bottle to be formed out of the rock. These bottles have to be seen to be believed.

What is really mind blowing to me is the fact that there are some of these bottles with pictures on both sides!

Sadly, few of them were signed. We only know that there was a certain school of carvers known as the `Suzhou School'. Their works are easily recognised by the style and quality of the carving, plus the fact that they make use of every mark in the stone to form the picture. They are amazing bottles when good, but there are later works that tend to look too stiff and the carving lacks the more fluid artistic touch of the master carvers. Unfortunately, hardly any of these bottles are really well hollowed.

Our first bottle

So to describe my first purchase, this was a `Shadow Agate picture bottle' involving a little carving, and very well hollowed. It is a most appropriate subject and color for a Snuff Bottle because the russet inclusions have been used to show `Putai Ho-Shang'. He is always depicted as a very corpulent man with a bare chest and abdomen and he is the patron saint of tobacconists. In this bottle he appears surprised by a bat whilst sitting below some tobacco leaves. The bat to the Chinese is a good luck symbol. You can see how easily he appears, nicely placed within the bottle yet only his head and a suggestion of his hand have been carved. We now own a number of Picture Agates and to illustrate the different types described, the photograph of the Duck with Lingzhi fungus in its beak is a good `Silhouette' example. Incidentally, the fungus is a symbol for wishing long life. This bottle is very unusual as there is a recess carved originally to create the image that serves as a built in dish. Lastly, a superb bottle of fishes with pictures on both sides: the pair of fishes are cameo carved and to the Chinese represent fidelity and happy conjugal rights in marriage. On the other side a fish and aquatic plants make use of every mark in the stone, all this on a well shaped bottle that is very well hollowed. All these bottles illustrated were made between 1750 and 1860. (See the photograph by using the link at the top of this article).

Assessment

To effectively judge Hardstone carvings, the first consideration should be concerned with the overall artistic impression. You need to be satisfied that the work looks well composed and well positioned and that the images formed are flowing rather than stiff and awkward. The next stage is to have a closer look at the technical skills. When I look at a cameo type of carving I study the shape and finish of the background, close to the edge of the carving. On poorer bottles this can be indented, uneven and not so well polished as the rest. Really fine examples look as if the raised cameo part has simply been glued onto a beautifully formed bottle. Engraved work at its best is very precise and provides the detail. When closely looking at a poor bottle the engraved parts can look very crude.

Beware, amazing glass imitation stone bottles exist. To check for these use a magnifying glass and look for tiny bubbles or pin size holes on the surface. As a last resort if still in doubt, a penknife will easily scratch the base if it is glass, whereas a stone will not be marked.

In evaluating the value of all artwork a careful check for any damage is essential. With stone bottles the following points should help. Firstly, assess how well the bottle has been hollowed by holding it up to the light. Inspect the stone from all angles in the light and with light from behind. If the stone is cracked it will be visible often as a star shape from the point of impact. Some stones have natural flaws that are not cracks. I then have a good look at the foot rim and the neck of the bottle, as these areas are the most susceptible to damage. If none is apparent I consider the proportions to make sure neither has been ground down to remove a chip.

When inspecting the neck as viewed looking down into the bottle the top surface should be concave, not flat. Bottles that have had the neck repaired to remove any damage are always flat, and you can be sure no longer original.

Snuff bottles were used

There is one other criterion that I personally believe is important. Most of the best stone bottles were made between 1750 and 1860, although many poor bottles have been made since then, right up to the present day. These late bottles were not really made for use, and some are referred to as `Cabinet Pieces' and can fairly easily be identified. They are poorly hollowed, if at all. Some just have a drilled hole in them and so they feel far too heavy. They also tend to be very showy in choice of materials, with impractical rather high and sharp carving that feels most uncomfortable in the hand. There are others so delicately carved that one instinctively knows that they could not survive actual use. It is only possible to make these judgements by comparison. Experience is needed and takes time to acquire.

There are advantages in collecting very small items as they are not too obtrusive and can easily be locked away. This is very important if your partner does not share your interest! They can also make a beautiful display without completely disrupting your home.

Try to be certain that you really are enthusiastic about collecting before you buy one. Once you place one in your home and it looks so small and appealing, it is only a matter of time before you will come to the conclusion that a little group of bottles will look so much better. Movies, they have been around to entertain us for over 100 years. Over this time, technology has improved to allow us to watch movies at home via 8mm reel to reel, VHS and Betamax video tape, CD-ROM (VCD movies) and currently DVD format. The DVD format, emerged informally as "digital versatile disc" around 1995. Research by Sony/ Philips and Toshiba around this time came from looking for alternatives to CD-ROM and VHS/Beta tapes as a replacement.

DVD has become a popular format for not just movies but for several platforms of media today, used in formats like DVD players for movies and TV series, consoles like the Playstation and XBOX, and for Personal Computers (which are also used for storage, the DVD-R +R, DVD-RW & DVD-RAM formats).

Since 2005, Sony and Toshiba have again gone head to head with Bluray (Sony) and HDDVD (toshiba) and with those of you old enough to remember the Betamax (Sony) and VHS (Toshiba) it is reminisce of the format wars of 25 odd years back.

For most, these two new formats are generation II of DVD, Bluray has a slightly larger capacity than HDDVD (around 30 Gb compared to DVD of around 4.7Gb) and uses a thinner blue laser on players (large red lasers are used on players that play cd and dvds) and HDDVD although slightly less capacity than Bluray (around 25Gb) uses a thinner red laser and is easier to manufacture in plants that make standard dvd discs. This presents new issues for the consumer. Which do I buy? What are the advantages and disadvantages? What is the cost?

Holographic DVD is also another emerging format that looks like getting commercial release in about 2009 and has storage looking to 200Gb and upwards. Thats about half a million MP3's, or about 400 hours of Standard Definition video or 80 hours of High Definition video. Whew !

Digital download (the internet and wireless internet), another emerging technology not just for viewing video on computers, but for cell phones as well. Cable TV, TIVO, Digital or broadband TV (IPTV), yes yet more technologies on the TV front vying for your hard earned dollar. Most consumers in the USA already have these 3 technologies.

So, in this sense, a human being is a besieged fortress. It goes without saying that to protect this fortress under assault a failsafe plan is necessary. Human beings were created with the perfect protection that they need; they are not defenseless against these enemies. God Almighty has created micro defense systems in the human body, protecting it from all sorts of dangerous organisms and fighting to defend it on multiple fronts.

Invasion forces have to cross the first lines of defense. Even thought the first line of defense may suffer setbacks, it will give the enemy a hard time and reduce its invasion ability.

Deterrents Waiting for Micro-enemies

The first front that the enemy must pass in the human body is our skin. The skin covers the whole body like a sheath and has many special features. One of the vital features of this miraculous packaging is its ability to protect the body from the micro-enemies that make the body sick. If we accept that the body is like a besieged fortress, we can say that the skin, with its outer layers of dead cells and the creatures that live on it, is the strong ramparts of this fortress.

We must remember that the human body is helplessly exposed to microbes 24 hours a day. The fact that you are able at this moment to read this text without being adversely affected by the microbes around you, is due to the operation of the defense system inside your body inspired by our Almighty Lord. Mental Illnesses in Children and Adolescent

Pediatric bipolar disorder, like its adult form, involves episodes of mania and depression. Unlike its adult counterpart, however, rates of diagnosis of PBD have risen greatly over the past decade, and its current diagnosis is attended by a great deal of controversy, even among experts in the field. Below I briefly summarize what the diagnosis is, according to the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV-TR; APA, 1994), and describe current controversies in the field about PBD's diagnosis and treatment.

Formal studies have shown that PBD, as diagnosed by the traditional diagnostic criteria, compromises normal functioning and can produce extreme shifts in mood and energy, risky behavior, and interpersonal problems. Historically, it has been believed to be relatively rare in youth, with rates ranging from 0 percent to 1.2 percent (Carlson & Kashani,1988; Lewinsohn, Klein, & Seeley, 1995; Shafferet al., 1996). Investigators using looser criteria, however, describe rates as high as 7% (Carlson & Kashani, 1988). PBD often demonstrates a great deal of co-morbidity and symptom overlap with other psychiatric disorders, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, anxiety, and depression, making it a challenging diagnosis.

According to the DSM-IV-TR, a manic episode is a distinct period of abnormally and persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood lasting for at least 1 week. To be diagnosed with bipolar disorder, a youth must experience three of the following symptoms (with expansive mood) or four of the following symptoms (with irritable mood):

>> Inflated self-esteem or grandiosity
>> Decreased need for sleep
>> Pressured speech
>> Flight of ideas or racing thoughts
>> Distractibility
>> Psychomotor agitation
>> Excessive involvement in pleasurable activities that have a high potential for painful consequences

Child and youth with bipolar disorder may also experience formal episodes of depression. Sometimes, symptoms of mania and depression occur together, creating a mixed state that can also be characterized by agitation. Depression is diagnosed when a person experiences five or more of the following symptoms for a period of 2 weeks or longer:

>> Feeling sad or losing interest in activities that were once enjoyable
>> Feeling hopeless and worthless
>> Having decreased energy
>> Having changes in sleep and eating patterns
>> Having psychomotor agitation or retardation
>> Having thoughts of death or suicide

All of these criteria were developed for use in adults and may not adequately represent bipolar disorder in children, and this is where the controversy begins. For example, some investigators maintain that juvenile bipolar disorder is characterized by severe irritability (Biederman et al., 2000), rapid cycling (Geller et al., 1998), and chronicity (Geller et al., 1998), more so than its adult counterpart. Aiming to operationalize the variety of clinical presentations diagnosed or misdiagnosed as bipolar disorder, investigators have developed a system of classifying mania into narrow, intermediate, and broad phenotypes (Leibenluft, Charney, Towbin, Bhangoo, & Pine, 2003). Standardized rating scales, such as the Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS; Young, Biggs, Ziegler, & Meyer, 1978; Youngstrom, Danielson, Findling, Gracious, & Calabrese, 2002), may be useful in clinical practice to support diagnostic decisions as well as to monitor treatment response. Although the controversy is still very much with us, a conservative approach (which I believe is most sensible until we have more data) for describing and diagnosing children with bipolar disorder is to carefully understand a patient's psychopathology and to consider a child's developmental level as well as environmental and psychosocial factors.

Families, clinicians, and administrators sometimes find themselves frustrated by the current uncertainty surrounding the diagnosis of bipolar disorder in children and adolescents. For parents, it can be disheartening, especially after one has sought and obtained a diagnosis from one expert, to find that another expert comes to a different diagnostic conclusion. For administrators, the possibility of missed diagnosis or misdiagnosis raises the specter of medical and legal risk if a child is inappropriately diagnosed or treated and a bad outcome ensues.

As in other areas of psychiatric diagnosis, the diagnosis of PBD is not an exact science, and there are, as yet, no firm diagnostic tests, biological indicators, or genetic markers that can be applied to assist doctors in making a diagnosis. Even a family history of bipolar disorder cannot lead one to conclude that a given child has the disorder, if all the DSM-IV criteria are not met. In fact, statistically speaking, a child with severe behavioral disturbances in the presence of a family history of bipolar disorder is more likely to have ADHD, major depression, conduct disorder, or conditions other than PBD. As with psychiatric diagnoses, clinicians must rely on the careful determination of whether a particular pattern of behaviors, emotions, or thoughts is present, and then determine whether the symptoms fit the diagnostic criteria for bipolar disorder or other DSM-IV conditions. These already complex challenges are further compounded in children whose behavior, emotions, and thoughts are continuously changing.

So what's in a "name," or a diagnosis? Strictly speaking, scientifically based medical practice would be impossible without rigorous diagnosis. By putting a name on a common set of medical signs and symptoms, diagnoses offer an efficient means of communication among scientists, healthcare providers, consumers, and policymakers. But this is more than just a simple naming or labeling process. Accompanied by a vigorous program of research diagnoses can be used by doctors to make important predictions about the child's (or adult's) likely response to a particular treatment, the course of the condition, and its eventual outcome.

Thus, careful diagnosis is the backbone of clinical research and the cornerstone of clinical practice. But if a diagnostic term such as bipolar disorder is loosely or inexpertly applied, all the research relevant to that diagnosis may not be applicable to the person for whom that diagnosis has been misapplied, and that clinician (and the family too) may be operating in the dark. And even if a diagnosis is expertly applied, if it is not accompanied by rigorous research to demonstrate its meaning and value, it is essentially a hollow victory for the clinician, child, and family, although short-term relief sometimes comes by having a name for the problem. But a name not accompanied by scientifically grounded understanding of prognosis, treatment choices, or anticipated outcomes is merely a name-nothing more. With a name appropriately applied and a rigorous program of research, we can offer children and families information about outcomes, and treatments that are safe and effective.

Currently, for DSM-IV-diagnosed PBD, research has demonstrated that several treatment options are useful. Typical medications include mood stabilizers and antipsychotics. Children and adolescents usually require medication to control the symptoms of bipolar disorder. Mood stabilizers and atypical antipsychotics can help control mania and prevent recurrences of manic and depressive episodes. Because children and adolescents with bipolar disorder typically present with chronic and complicated symptoms and do not respond sufficiently to treatment with one mood stabilizer, they often require long-term, combination treatment (Carlson & Kashani, 2002; Findling et al., 2005; Geller et al., 2002; Kowatch, Sethuraman, Hume, Kromelis, & Weinberg, 2003). Many of the medications used to treat children with bipolar disorder have Food and Drug Administration indications for adults with bipolar disorder but not for children. However, the FDA has recently approved two typical agents (aripiprazole and risperdal) for the treatment of bipolar disorder.

Also of great value is psycho-education that teaches families about bipolar disorder and its course, prognosis, medication, and management (Fristad, Gavazzi, & Mackinaw-Koons, 2003; Keller, 2004). In this area, several manualized treatments that use a psycho-education-based approach have shown promising results in controlled pilot studies using multifamily psycho-education groups (Fristad, Goldberg-Arnold, & Gavazzi, 2002) and family focused psycho-educational treatment (Miklowitz et al., 2004).

Although a growing amount of research is available to guide clinicians' treatment choices, a good deal of uncertainty remains in the absence of a large body of evidence. To address this problem, experts have worked with family advocacy organizations to develop consensus-based treatment guidelines, which may be helpful in supporting clinical decision making (Kowatch et al., 2005).

So what's in a name? Let the buyer beware! As a field, we must remember that all diagnoses and diagnostic systems are shaped by current norms and values, medical fashions (yes, unfortunately, even diagnoses are suspect, if loosely applied or not based on solid research). Remember, just 40 years ago, almost all severe psychiatric disorders in adults were characterized as "schizophrenia;" our understanding today is much more refined vis-?-vis major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and a range of schizophrenia-type disorders. Even conditions such as peptic ulcer, long thought to be a result of excess stomach acid or stress, have been recently re-conceptualized and better understood as principally due to the presence of a particular bacterium, Helicobacter pylori.

This situation is not a cause for despair; rather, it is merely a cause for caution. Yes, investigators are not in total agreement about how to best diagnose PBD, but the arguments are about scientific uncertainties, not about whether such children have severe conditions or not. And when investigators quarrel, almost one thing is invariably certain: The research is not yet definitive, and we must insist on more high-quality research. From this perspective, current issues, such as controversies about whether bipolar disorder is under-, over-, or misdiagnosed in children, should be re-conceptualized as not whether bipolar disorder exists but how it should be diagnosed, how it should be treated, and how it turns out! To get answers to those questions, we need high-quality scientific findings targeted at improving the predictability of our knowledge.

Likewise, we must understand the temporary nature of our current diagnostic systems: Look for-and insist upon-further advances. As one wise child psychiatrist once said to me, "In God we trust . . . but from all others, demand data!" As clinicians and administrators, we can do our part in this process by ensuring the careful use of established diagnostic criteria and monitoring our diagnostic and treatment practices for consistency, predictability, and understandability while avoiding the potential pitfalls of diagnostic fashions or treatment trends in the absence of evidence.

'Suster Keramas' merupakan film garapan sutradara Helfi Kardit. Selain Rin, film tersebut juga dibintangi Yadi Sembako, Zidney Adam dan Alex Abad.

Is a part of many parents, the teen years are challenging. Even though you may be doing a good job parenting your teen, there are reasons family life may become more stressful. There are also some things you can do that are helpful.

It is important to understand what is happening for teens during this unique time in their lives. The teen years are focusing on several developmental issues:

- Who am I? During this time of individuation, teens have two high level needs which are belonging and autonomy. - Do I matter? The question here is what is my purpose or what will give my life meaning.

- How will I spend my time and with whom will I spend it? This question has to do with time and relationship issues.

Recent brain research indicates that new imaging techniques reveal that the teen brain does not work like an adult brain. The frontal cortex of the brain which is responsible for controlling impulses, critical thinking, and problem solving is not fully developed until around age 25. This is because the mylinazation process (insulation around the nerves) is not complete until around 25 years old. Therefore, neurons in the brain process and interpret information differently than an adult does. This is one of the reasons why some states have recently raised the age for getting a license to drive.

Since these developmental and physiological issues are outside of a parent's control, you may be wondering what you can do. There are two functions of effective parenting: love and guidance. You want to have a balance between them. Too much love may become overly permissive if there are not some basic family rules. Likewise, too many rules may come across as if you do not love and respect your teen.

To balance love and guidance:

On the love side -

- Pay attention to them.

- Treat them as valuable.

- Show appreciation for what they do.

- Give encouragement for the effort they put into something they are doing or for the enjoyment they will get out of doing it. Just saying "good job" conveys judgment, not love.

- Strengthen togetherness as a family by giving gratitude statements, having occasional "fun nights", and involving them in some holiday planning.

On the guidance side -

- Create greater emotional safety by stepping in when you sense your teens are having trouble saying "No" to peers. It is sometimes easier for teens to be able to say that my parent(s) said "No".

- Use natural and logical consequences whenever possible.

- Focus on prevention rather than punishment.

- Promote conscience development by showing your teens exactly how their actions favorably or unfavorably impact others.

Communicating with teens is important. Parents are often faced with the dilemma of nagging about or ignoring problems. Contrary to most parenting advice, you need to stop ignoring things that could potentially become serious problems. Ignoring with teens gives them license to do whatever they want. Remember two things: teens tend to be naturally power-oriented and their brains are not fully developed to have the self-management skills you would like them to have. Consider your options.

The number one error most parents make is to sound like they are nagging. Nagging can be:

- Corrective - scold, criticize, punish, time out, yell.

- Directive - boss, remind, request, order.

To know if you are doing too much nagging, ask yourself the following question: Of all the messages I have given in the last 48 hours, what percent are corrective and what percent are directive? Fifty percent or higher is too much. The ideal is about twenty-five percent done in a calm way. This percentage produces fewer confrontations and less family tension.

What can you do instead? When there is tension in your relationship with your teens, there are four things you want to do to avoid a power struggle. These need to be done in a clear, calm, and congruent way. You want to:

1. Understand how your teens feel, see things, and what their needs are.

2. Give information and feedback about how their actions impact you or others in a negative way and how they (the teens) are being hurt.

3. Help develop a win-win solution where both of your needs are met.

4. Tell what you will do to support any changes your teens agree to.

If your teens are angry, it is best to respond with empathy. You might say something like, "This is a hard time for you insn't it." Then you might suggest another time to talk when both of you can be calmer.

To further improve communication, Positive Psychology research indicates promising results using Appreciative Inquiry both at home and work. This is a way of talking to someone that focuses attention away from problems and toward solutions. It is not denying negatives. It is a positive approach to learning and change that reveals possibilities.

Appreciative Inquire is based on the belief that:

- What you expect to happen influences your choices and what you do.

- A positive focus supports positive outcomes and well-being.

This means that your image of the future guides your current actions and behavior. You create your future in the present, carrying your best from the past. You may be wondering how you do this. You do it by creating your future through your current choices and attention. To test this out for yourself, ask yourself:

1. What are the times when you are at your best as a parent?

2. What is a peak experience you have had as a parent?

3. Who do you admire for their skills and abilities in parenting?

4. What are one or two things you would like to do more of as an effective parent?

5. What do you need to feel good as a parent?

Write down what you have learned about yourself from answering these questions. These are also good questions to ask your teens about themselves when they are in a receptive mood.

Think of this time in your teen's life as a time for you to be:

- Authentic which means good self-awareness so you can manage your own emotions.

- Positive and optimistic.

- Patient; be ready to take a break in communicating if there is too much tension to reach a win-win solution.

- Engaged in the process so you can convey both love and guidance.

Cincinnati catfishing Bait

Some of the baits I have used for used for CATFISHing here on the Ohio River are, chicken liver, minnows, shrimp, Spam, French Fries and more. Fresh chicken liver works better than frozen liver that has thawed out. It does get bites however, cats peck at it so by the time you pick up the rod they have cleaned the bait off the hook. My experience is the fish swallows the bait more often than getting hooked. The biggest drawback is keeping the bait on the hook when casting from the bank. Trying to get a long cast with chicken liver is very difficult. It seems like half the time the liver will just fly off the hook with any forceful cast. This is no problem if you are fishing from a boat, just flip it out and feed it line so the current can take it away from the boat for you.

Spam does get bites but is even harder to cast from the bank. three out of four cast can see the bait go flying in the air before the line hits the water. Shrimp works well for it does have a scent to it and stays on the hook when casting from the bank. You normally have to get the shrimp when it is on sale and freeze it. Then get it out the night before you fish to let it thaw out.

Minnows are good for there are so many fish that will feed on them beside catfish. So even if the cats are not biting you could get a perch, largemouth bass, stripper or a white bass. Yes! I did say French Fries as bait! I have caught channel cats up river and right in the downtown Cincinnati area on FRENCH FRIES. I did read posting from a guy that caught a large Flathead on fries by one of the restaurants on the river in Newport Ky. Any fast food place that sells fries works. If possible pick some up when heading to your spot so they are on the warm side. That allows the grease to get into the water to make a scent trail easier.

I had great success in February 2004 using chunks of steak for bait. I caught 8 bluecats with it, largest being 13 pounds. It did not matter if it was raw or grilled with seasoning. So if you have some scrapes left over from a cookout just put it in a small freezer bag. If you have a friend that works in a restaurant that has steak, ask them to make up doggie bag of scraps for you. It stays on the hook very well when casting and the fish have a hard time just pecking it off the hook. All of those eight fish were hooked, none swallowed it. So I was able to released them to grow bigger for the next season.

This past summer I was able to use a casting net to get some gizzard and thinfin shad for bait. These fish die very quickly. So I just cut them up for bait. Skipjack is a great bait if you can get them. Around Cincinnati they can be caught on a rod and reel in the Fall. Other than that the only place I know for skipjack year round is the power plant at Aberdeen Ohio. I have some frozen cut skipjack from last Fall to start off this season.

July 19 2003 I caught two Channel Cats around 2 1/2 lbs. using the skin from fried chicken. It says on the hook for casting O.K. Had 3 other bites but they stripped off the bait. I'm not sure if large cats bite on it. Just started using it today. So when your family is done eating their chicken dinner put the scraps of skin in a small zip lock bag in the freezer till you go fishing.

ALso learnd in July 2003 from another Catfisherman about Chicken nuggets for bait. He had been telling me about it a couple time this summer. The other week I saw him actually catch a 5 lb. channel cat out of the river using chicken nuggets. He turn to me and said that was the smallest one of the day. He had landed 5 other cats earlier that morning and released them. HE had stopped at McDonalds and picked up a 6 nugget serving that morning. He said he has used other companies nuggets in the past.

KIta jadi agak bingung juga harus memilih yang mana. Pembuatan soal Tes CPNS memang dari tahun ketahun tidak jauh berbeda, namun tetap saja kita menginginkan contoh soal yang paling update.

Dengan melihat contoh soal ujian CPNS, diharapkan kita dapat lulus dari tes atau seleksi penerimaan CPNS yang akan segera diadakan diberbagai instansi pemerintah. Baik departemen dalam negeri, pendidikan serta departemen - departemen lainnya.

Dalam memilih contoh soal yang akan kita jadikan bahan untuk dijadikan acuan agar kita bisa menjawab semua pertanyaan di dalam seleksi CPNS tahun ini. Penerimaan CPNS tetap saja menjadi suatu pilihan yang diharapkan ribuan atau bahkan jutaan para oencari lapangan pekerjaan di negeri kita ini.

Benarkah Aa Gym ceraikan Teh Ninih? Pertanyaan tersebut muncul di masyarakat setelah banyaknya isu yang berdedar seputar perceraian Aa Gym denganteh Ninih beredardi internet. Kita tak bisa menjawabnya sebelum ada bukti yang mendukung tentang hal tersebut. Mungkin benar , bisa juga salah. Kita liaht saja dan dengar perkembangan yang selanjutnya dalam kenyataan dan buktinya.

Sebenarnya terlalu banyak orang yang ingin tahu hal yang semestinya tak perlu kita ketahui. Perceraian ataupun pernikahan Aa Gym dengan siapapun bukanlah urusan kita. Semua itu merupakan urusan beliau sendiri serta privacy milk beliau.

Namun karena Aa Gym seorang public pigure hal tersebut menjadi cukup mendapat perhatian dari masyarakat luas di tanah air kita ini. Jika perhatian tersebut tidak berlebihan, bisa kita maklumi dan wajar terjadi pada seorang publik pigure. Semoga saja isu yang beredar tidak benar adanya.

Tentang Susunan Nama Menteri Kabinet Indonesia Bersatu 2, yang masih berumur beberapa hari ini, kita akan melihat serta membantu mereka mewujudkan cita - cita bersama bangsa ini.

Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) menegaskan bahwa proses rekrutmen anggota Kabinet Indonesia Bersatu (KIB) Jilid II melalui proses kredibel dan akuntabel berdasar kebutuhan 5 tahun ke depan. Ia pun siap mempertanggungjawabkan kabinet yang disusunnya dengan konsep the right person on the right place and the right time tersebut.
“Proses pemilihan Saudara sebagai menteri kredibel dan akuntabel. Saya menyusun kabinet berdasar visi dan misi. Saya siap mempertanggungjawabkan,” kata SBY saat membuka sidang paripurna KIB II, Jumat (23/10), di Kantor Setneg, Jakarta.
Presiden mengakui banyak sekali tokoh yang punya kapasitas tidak kalah bila dibanding anggota KIB II. Tetapi belum tentu mereka adalah orang yang saat ini tepat dalam mewujudkan rencana kerja pemerintahan 5 tahun ke depan.
Sebagai contoh SBY menyebut EE Mangindaan yang sebenarnya sudah hendak dia rekrut bergabung dalam KIB I dalam posisi sama di KIB II. Namun belakangan di lingkungan Partai Demokrat muncul kebutuhan untuk mengisi pimpinan Komisi II DPR 2004-2009 dan EE Mangindaan pada saat itu lebih dibutuhkan mengisi pos tersebut.
“Sekali lagi, konsep the right person on the right place and the right time,” tegas SBY.
Penyusunan KIB II pun berlangsung secara maraton dengan melibatkan banyak pihak berkompeten karena tujuan akhirnya adalah kesuksesan pemerintahan. Maka bila ada pihak yang menuding KIB II disusun secara gegabah, menurutnya tidak berdasarkan pada logika yang tepat.
“Ada yang bilang kenapa pilih ini, harusnya itu. Tapi kalau itu yang dipilih, dibilangnya harusnya yang sana. Kalau sana yang dipilih, harusnya sananya lagi,” urai SBY memberikan ilustrasi.
Jelaskan Nila
Sebelum membuka sidang kabinet, SBY kepada wartawan menjelaskan alasan mengapa dirinya tidak jadi mengangkat Nila Juwita Moelek sebagai Menteri Kesehatan dan lebih memilih Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih.
Ia pun bercerita bahwa Nila memiliki keunggulan-keunggulan dan kelebihan-kelebihan. Karena itu, SBY mengaku sudah ingin mengajak istri mantan Menkes Farid Anfasa Moeloek itu bergabung di KIB Jilid I.
Karena pada 2004 niat untuk mengajak Nila masuk ke kabinet belum terealisasi, SBY pun memanggil kembali Nila dalam seleksi menteri pada 2009. Nila pun datang ke kediaman SBY di Puri Cikeas, Kabupaten Bogor pada Minggu (18/10). Nila juga menjalani tes kesehatan fisik dan psikis.
Tapi, setelah menimbang-nimbang hasil tes kesehatan itu, SBY memutuskan tidak jadi memilih Nila bergabung di kabinet. Keputusan diambil setelah SBY melakukan konsultasi dengan tim kecil, tim dokter, dan Setneg.
“Di dalam proses seleksi, memang beliau amat unggul di bidang-bidang lain. Tapi ada satu-dua titik yang menurut saya tidak tepat kalau beliau saya forsir di departemen. Sekali lagi konsep the right person on the right place and the right time,” kata SBY.
SBY mengaku sangat hormat terhadap Nila dan akan segera bertemu. “Sampai sekarang saya hormat pada beliau karena beliau punya kelebihan, keahlian, peran besar,” kata Ketua Dewan Pembina DPP Partai Demokrat tersebut.
SBY yakin bahwa Nila akan memiliki peran dan tugas lebih bermanfaat bagi masyarakat dibanding bila berada di pos yang lain. “Saya berharap beliau masih bisa emban tugas di wilayah lain di mana belum tentu kita semua bisa melakukannya,” ujarnya.
Soal Endang, SBY membantah jika mantan Kepala Litbang Depkes itu lolos jadi menteri tanpa melalui proses uji kelayakan.
“Beliau melalui MMPI (tes psikologi), wawancara dengan saya. Memang tidak ada wartawan waktu itu karena sudah hari kesekian,” katanya.
Setelah itu, Endang pun melalui tes kesehatan sebagaimana mestinya. Menurut SBY, ia telah menerima semua hasil tes kesehatan dan kejiwaan para calon menterinya.
Ia mengakui ada beberapa calon menteri yang bermasalah, namun tidak serius. Hanya gangguan-gangguan kecil yang memerlukan penanganan. “Saya juga begitu. Saya check up hampir setiap tahun. Kadang-kadang lebih sering, untuk memastikan fit,” katanya.
Sementara itu, Ketua Ikatan Dokter Indonesia (IDI) Fahmi Idris memastikan kondisi kesehatan Nila baik. “Dia sangat kompeten secara kesehatan,” kata Fahmi.
Fahmi menjelaskan, dokter ahli bedah mata sekelas Nila pastilah lolos uji kesehatan. Setidaknya, kata Fahmi, Nila pernah memiliki surat registrasi praktik yang didapat dari tes kesehatan yang sangat ketat.
“Dia punya surat tanda registrasi praktik dokter yang salah satu syaratnya harus sehat secara fisik dan mental untuk menjalankan praktik dokter,” ungkap Fahmi.
Fahmi sendiri mengaku tidak tahu-menahu mengenai hasil tes kesehatan audisi menteri yang dilalui Nila.
Oleh karenanya, Fahmi pun enggan mengomentari terlalu jauh.
“Data yang asli ada di tim kesehatan,” tandasnya. (dcn/tnr)

Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono telah mengumumkan Susunan Nama Menteri Kabinet Indonesia Bersatu 2, pada pukul 22.00 tadi. Dalam susunan nama menteri tersebut, terdapat muka lama maupun muka baru. Para menteri yang telah diangkat menjadi menteri tersebut, besok siang, kira - kira pukul 13.30 akan dilantik menjadi menteri untuk masa jabatan tahun 2009-2014. Semoga saja mereka dapat menjalankan tugasnya dengan baik dan selalu mendapat perlindungan-Nya.
